Know How 12/05/2010 For different reasons, Printers/Copiers Makers decided some years ago to implement methods in their machines to limit the number of prints/copies made by the imaging, toner, fixing or any other kind of consumable unit to a preset value. The machine stops printing when any of those consumables reaches its preset limit, not allowing prints/copies to be made until the exhausted!!? consumable is replaced by a new one. In order to have an effective control of the prints made by consumable units, most makers add electronic chips to them. These chips basically store some identification code and a print counter. We can extend the useful life of a consumable unit in variable percentages, depending on the machine model and on the kind of work usually made by your MFP. And this can be done just by replacing the old chip in your imaging/drum/developer unit with a reset chip that stores the right data. The printer/copier will detect the consumable unit as if it was a new one, starting a new print cycle. This way the useful life of consumables can be extended remarkably!!! In most cases, a new life cycle can be achieved. But even more!!! |
